Description

Mitutoyo digital vernier caliper with sliding measuring jaw, 0-200 mm, resolution 0.01 mm is the digital equivalent of the vernier sliding-jaw caliper (article 64-536101 family) — featuring the same specialized geometry to reach past stepped surfaces and recessed flanges, but with an Absolute Digimatic readout instead of a vernier scale. The sliding upper jaw is the design difference from a standard caliper.

The Absolute measuring system is what differentiates the digital version from the vernier version. A rotating capacitive encoder retains the absolute zero relative to the scale even when the caliper is powered off. The classic incremental digital caliper requires an intentional zeroing at every power cycle — this is the most common source of operator-induced reading errors, and Absolute eliminates it entirely. The 0.01 mm resolution matches the Mitutoyo Digimatic workshop series.

The use case is the same as the vernier sliding-jaw caliper: weld bead base width measurement, casting flange inspection past a raised feature, and jig-and-fixture stepped-surface dimensioning during setup. The digital readout offers a productivity gain — readings can be transferred to a Digimatic logger via cable or U-WAVE wireless.

Common applications: same as the vernier sliding-jaw — weld beads, casting flanges, recessed-feature pickup — but with direct logger input for departments running statistical process control sampling.
